“My mom (90) had Alzheimer’s and a series of falls and injuries, and my dad (93) was doing the best he could to keep her out of a nursing home. Mom’s biggest fear in life was ending up in a nursing home. So we downsized our parents’ home from a four-bedroom house to a two-bedroom apartment, and once they moved, they were incredibly happy with The Park Danforth.

Jessica Ennis was our first connection, and she continues to be a reliable resource to this very day. She gave us our first tour, she kept in touch with us while we waited for an available apartment, and since my mom passed away this year, she’s helping us get our dad into a one bedroom with as much of an amazing view as the apartment he currently has. He currently has two balconies so he can go outside and look at Portland from a very high elevation, and even see the ocean.

Dad got a “Life Alert” sort of device from the VA, but it has to charge so he can't always wear it. Jody Ryan (Resident Services) recommended a pendant he can use that has something like a 5 year battery. If he needs 911 in his apartment, the laundry room, dining hall, or movie theater, he can press the button and they’ll know where he is in the building. It costs $175 for 5 years of reassurance and it is waterproof. He never needs to take it off.

The food is amazing, the staff love the residents, and I can’t praise this place enough. It’s absolutely perfect and I know my dad is safe and sincerely cared for. I’d give it 6 stars if I could.”

“I contacted The Park Danforth today to inquire about the possibility of moving back home to Maine. I grew up in Maine on Sebago Lake. I left 45 years ago and moved to the city (Boston).

I am now wanting to go back home for my retirement. I was so delighted by the phone service with reception and then Kasey, the intake manager, at The Park Danforth.

Both were extremely friendly, kind, and compassionate. I’m looking forward to receiving information, researching, and working with Kasey to see if it will be a good fit for me.”

“We stayed at The Park Danforth while helping move my dad into his new apartment there and the guest apartment was made available as a convenient option for both my dad and me during the transition. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and truly felt like a 5-star hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay—Kasey was absolutely wonderful and accommodating, and the entire team made us feel welcome. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience. My dad is in the right place and in good hands. The level of customer service was excellent. I also work in customer service, and this is exactly how it should be done.”

“If you want to isolate, don’t move to The Park Danforth.  There are many activities—movies, various trip outings, and the in-house van will take you grocery shopping, to banks, CVS.  And they feed you, so you don’t even have to cook.  The staff are always willing to help, and all the residents are quite friendly.  I’ve made the right choice and have only been living here a couple of months.”
