The Park Danforth offers a range of Independent Living options to match your lifestyle and your budget:

Each apartment features a fully-applianced kitchen, dining area, living room, private bath and bedroom. Deluxe apartments offer more spacious accommodations, with some featuring a balcony, a second bedroom or den. All are equipped with an emergency call system and are wired for cable and telephone.

Independent Living offers fine dining once daily in the elegant surroundings of our main dining room. Our carefully selected menu features a range of healthful choices and traditional favorites, attractively prepared and presented by our professional culinary staff.

Social Activities and Life Enrichment programs for residents include a full schedule of entertainment, educational, cultural and spiritual offerings; while many are presented here at The Park Danforth, others take residents off-campus, into downtown Portland and other venues across the region. For these events, residents have the option of traveling in their own vehicles or enjoying a comfortable ride in our fully equipped tour bus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a waiting list?

Currently there is an approximately 6-8 month waiting list for private pay applicants. This can vary depending on the floor plan you are interested in. For applicants to the federally-subsidized program there is also a waiting list; it is difficult to predict the length of your wait as there are many factors that can influence a person’s placement on the list. Applicants to the federally-subsidized program can likely expect a wait of 2 to 4 years.

Do you have visiting hours?

You are welcome to have guests at any time.

Can I have a guest stay overnight?

Yes, we welcome you to have friends and family visit and stay the night. Many residents enjoy the company of grandchildren visiting, as well.

Can my family join me for dinner in the dining room?

Yes, we only ask for a minimum of four hours' notice. We are usually able to accommodate most requests. There is a charge for all guest meals, which is billed to the resident at the end of each month.

Is there someone in the building 24-hours per day?

Yes, there is an Emergency Staff member at the front desk 24 hours/day. This person is trained to respond to emergency calls and provide and/or obtain needed assistance.

Is there a long-term lease or buy-in?

Apartments are rented on a month-to-month basis and can be vacated with 30 days written notice. We do ask for a security deposit, which is placed in an escrow account and returned to you when you leave, providing that your apartment is in good repair.

What would my apartment be like?

There are many different floor plans to choose from, including efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, and suites. Some have balconies, Each apartment offers a private bathroom, fully applianced kitchen and ample closet space. All are equipped with emergency pull-cords.

Is there parking available for my car?

Yes, we have two parking lots available for residents to use. We also provide snow removal in the parking areas as part of our groundskeeping services.

How is the food?

The Park Danforth received very high marks on our Food Service program in a recent resident satisfaction survey; the quality of the food is excellent, and we use many fresh products from local businesses in preparing it. We know how important it is to have choices, so each meal offers many selections for you to choose from. Meals are prepared and served restaurant style by our experienced dining staff. Do you accept pets?

You are welcome to bring your pet. There is a pet security deposit required and each resident can have only one pet.
